Things to do in Santa Ynez Valley
The Santa Ynez Valley is comprised of two cities (Solvang and Buellton) and three unincorporated towns (Santa Ynez, Ballard, and Los Olivos). Each of these areas has its own character making the Valley diverse despite its small size of less than 20,000 residents.
The architecture of the buildings in Solvang showcases steep gabled roofs, windmills, and the typical old world building style. The shops are filled with wares from near and afar and the bakeries loaded with Danish pastries. The restaurants feature food from Denmark and other ethnic styles completing your experience of being transferred to another era.
The town of Santa Ynez harkens back to the western frontier days and the more modern, artsy town of Los Olivos is lined with quaint shops, restaurants and tasting rooms.
