This is a destination event so bring your friends and family (especially Mom as it’s Mother’s Day weekend). The race is staged on SATURDAY and our packet pickup and expo days are Thursday and Friday.
Registration is open to runners and fast walkers who can keep a pace of 15:30 per mile or better and finish in 3hr 30min.

Certification: This course is sanctioned and certified by USTAF. Certification number is CA08004R. Half Marathon distance is 13.1 miles.
Run with a partner and split the half marathon distance! Teams may be 2 men, 2 women or co-ed, or register as a mother/son or daughter team. No casual walkers please. Transportation is provided to and from the transition area and the start and finish areas.
Team member A will run the first leg from the start line in Santa Ynez to the transition area in Los Olivos (5.6 miles) then touch team member B who will then run the second leg (7.5 miles) from Los Olivos to the finish line in Solvang. Team prizes are awarded in these categories: M/M, F/F, M/F and Mother/Son or Daughter.
Enter a team of 6 or more members and you’ll be eligible to compete for awards in the team competition and receive a $10 discount on each entry fee. Teams must be a minimum of six members and can be any combination of male or female. Female runners receive a 10 minute deduction from the overall combined score of your top six times.
We utilize the IPICO computerized chip timing system. Results are posted at the event and online. Elite runners will be positioned at the front. Be sure to return your chip to the collection boxes after you finish or you’ll be charged a $20 fee.
Top 3 Overall Male & Female
- 1st Place = $500 plus Ball Watch and magnum of wine
- 2nd Place = $300 plus magnum of wine
- 3rd Place = $200 plus magnum of wine
First place Santa Barbara County male and female finishers receive $100 certificate from Santa Barbara Running Company.
Wine is awarded to top 3 male and female finishers in age division every 5 years. Divisions are determined by the runner’s age on race day.
2-Person Relay awards:
Top finishers in the following categories, M/M team, F/F team, Co-ed, Mother/Daughter or Son team.
The top two teams of 6 or more members will receive awards. A team must have a minimum of 6 runners finish the half marathon to qualify as a team. Teams can be any combination of men and women. Women receive a 10 minute deduction. The top six finishing times from each team are calculated for the cumulative team time.
There will be a gear check area at the start and relay transition area for runners to place their warm-ups and other items in the bag provided by race staff. Bib number and name will be written on the bags and then transported to the finish area for pickup. Any items left at the event will be donated to charity after 20 days.
May temperatures are typically very moderate and pleasant in the Santa Ynez Valley. Start time temperature can range from a cool of 50°F to low 60s. The high temperature in the afternoon will typically range from 68°F to 78°F. There is very little precipitation in May although it is recommended that runners bring adequate clothing for a range of temperatures and conditions. There is exposure to the sun on this course so please wear sunscreen.
