The Course:

Mile by Mile Course Description

Mile 0 to 1 Start on Sagunto St.

Gather in downtown Santa Ynez for the start down Sagunto St. to Faraday to Tivola and then left on Meadowvale Rd for a scenic send-off. Enjoy great views of the meadows with the Sierra Madre Mountains as your backdrop for the first mile.

Mile 1 to 2 Edison to Baseline

You'll pass through Arabian horse ranches and fruit orchards on this stretch of the course. Aid station #1 is at the bend next to Summerset Farms near the 2 mile mark.

Mile 2 to 4 Refugio to Roblar

Heading north on Refugio is a straight shot until you turn left onto Roblar. The course starts to bend and roll in this section. For every slight uphill there is equivalent downhill to help keep your pace. You'll pass your second aid station just after reaching Roblar.

Mile 4 to 6 Grand to Los Olivos

Our favorite part of the first leg of the course, this section begins with a sweet smelling pass by the lavender fields at Clairmont Farms. Then it's a downhill twist onto Grand Ave. which takes runners right through downtown Los Olivos past the flagpole to aid station #3 and the 2-person relay transition. Los Olivos is a great spot to enjoy breakfast and watch the race!

Mile 6 to 7 Alamo Pintado To Corkscrew Hill

After passing through town and the realy transition area, runners will head west on Alamo Pintado Ave. Make sure you hydrate for Corkscrew Hill, a .6 mile stretch that will test your patience.  Not too steep but a good gradual twisting climb. As you reach the crest of Corkscrew Hill you'll happily find aid station #4 and miles of downhill ahead.

Mile 7 to 9 Ballard Canyon

Runners will love this part of the course. Check out the incredible views down valley as you race through Ballard Canyon on the fastest section of the course. You'll pass by an occasional volunteer, ranches and plenty of vineyards and farm animals but not much else.

Mile 9 to 12 Rusack Vineyards to Chalk Hill

After passing aid station #5 you'll see Rusack Vineyards on your right. You will still be cruising downhill for a mile or so but eventually you'll encounter Chalk Hill, a final uphill test of endurance before reaching the residential section of Solvang. Aid station #6 will appear as you reach the crest of Chalk Hill.

Mile 12 to 13.1 A Copenhagen Finish

It's a fast final mile and a half as you enter downtown Solvang on Atterdag Rd. After crossing Hwy 246 take a left turn onto Copenhagen for the final stretch in front of the spectators lined street of this Danish town. Now its time to collect your awards and celebrate in style at the Wine & Music Festival located adjacent to the finish area in Solvang Park and First St. Congratulations!
